Letters to daughters of Tomorrow by Author Shamoly Khera explores themes of women’s remarkable potential, breaking societal stereotypes, breaking free from the years of conditioning under the veil of traditions and cultures. This book is a key to shaping the daughters of today into the confident women of tomorrow.

We had an exciting Author Meet up with Author Shamoly Khera at Oxford Bookstore, Connaught Place, Delhi on 03rd October, 2024. Author Shamoly Khera was in conversation with Preeti Chaturvedi, CEO of The Sunflower Seed Co and the topics ranged from gender issues in today’s world and how to address them.

Other takeaways during their conversation were:

1) Queen bee syndrome

This term is used when women in position of power treat other women worse than men. A syndrome used when a woman’s enemy is a woman itself. Author Shamoly Khera explained certain circumstances that denoted the presence of Queen Bee syndrome clearly such as women unconsciously undermining the accomplishments of other women, isolating subordinates and excluding other women.

2) Standing up for yourself and raising hands for other women too

Author Shamoly Khera shared instances where women have managed to speak up for themselves and even raise stands for other women. She even emphasized on urging women to put their ideas into fruition instead of holding it back and grabbing every opportunity that comes their way.

3) Women in workforce

Author Shamoly Khera spoke about how India has one of the lowest female participation rates in the world at just 21 percent. 79 percent of the Indian women do not even seek work because of societal pressure. She spoke about the increasing gap between girls getting education and women actually attaining to the workforce after being educated.
